Open Space Update 2010
As you know Bucks County Voters in 2007 approved monies for municipal open space grant funds. Bristol Township's proposed allocation is $1,077,380 which includes a match of 25% from the Township. As for the local match of 25%, in 2001 the Township applied for and was awarded the match through a PA DCED - Community Revitalization Assistance Program. The Township will be looking at exploring this policy for this round as well too.
The first step needed prior to obtaining these funds is that each municipality must have a County approved updated Open Space Plan. The last update to the Township Open Space Plan was done in 2000 (see below link). Bucks County has allotted up to $10,000 of the municipal allocation towards the Open Space Plan. This is a reimbursement upon completion and approval by the County of the plan.
Council has taken steps to contract with the Bucks County Planning Commission in order to assist with the update. The next Open Space Plan update meeting will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 4pm at the Township Building auditorium. This meeting will be open to the public and residents are urged to participate in the update of this essential plan. A draft plan will be presented at this meeting and tentatively is scheduled to be reviewed at the July 21st Planning Commission meeting. Pending a recommendation from the Township Planning Commission, the plan will be presented to Council for possible adoption at the August 19th Council meeting.
Please noted that this plan outlines and evaluates open space options in the Township. Council will have until December 31, 2014 to make application to obtain the allocation of the actual Open space funds.
